I’m a Portland, Oregon-based journalist and freelance writer (you can read all my other work, here.) Our family has toured Africa, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and most corners of our native Pacific Northwest with babies, toddlers, and (now) kids and pre-teens.

(I’m barely unpacked before I am trying to figure out where we’ll go next!)

I write on many topics, but this site features global spots + trips around our Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. home. My writing has appeared in USAToday Travel, Thrive Global, Travelforkids.com, KidTripster.com and Luxury Living Magazine.

Why We Travel:

Foreign travel became a big part of life when my sister married a South African farmer and moved to remote Eastern Cape, South Africa. Today, both she and I drag our families back-and-forth across the continents and oceans to be together.

My proudest travel achievement has been pulling off the ultimate trip with my husband and kids: two years living and parenting as expats in Brisbane, Australia. I casually documented our family's adventures living as locals Down Under.

We spent December 2018 back in Australia - and it was so great to revisit our favorite spots in Oz - and discover Melbourne.

Back home in the Pacific Northwest, I am as local as they come. I was born and raised in SW Washington State and studied Journalism at the University of Portland. In addition to my editorial writing, I have had a long career working in public relations for a variety of clients.

When I'm not writing or traveling, I spend my days volunteering as national board member for Fighting Pretty, a women’s cancer support organization.
